My name is Megan Sawyer. I'm an artist with a BFA from
Carnegie Mellon University. My main
artistic focus has been in the finer arts, as well as web design and
interactive art, but I have returned my career focus to my first love,
video games.
My dad started me out right - he worked for IBM and when I was three, he
plopped my twin sister and I down in front of our brand new PC Jr. and loaded
up King's Quest II. My sister controlled the joystick, I typed the commands.
To this day, she has better hand-eye coordination, but I've still got
my spelling bee trophies. It was an odd sense of pride for my parents
I'm sure, having the only first grader who could type "get jewelry
from log" in 3 seconds.
Since then I've been trained in 3D animation, various
forms of writing (playwriting especially) and have kicked the butt of various college classmates in Soul Calibur tournaments. Another proud moment for
the folks, I'm sure.
Currently I'm working with a fantastic company, Bethesda
Softworks as an artist. My sister wound up in video games as well at a company up in NYC, so it's become something of a family business. There really is nothing like working on video games, which is why I intend to spend the rest of my life doing
so!
